I lived in Malawi as a child and left in 1979. Mangaliso was helping me to find my old house via e-mail in area 12 (which I did with his help and Google Earth). I hadn't realised of his passing until today when I went to his blog and read a message. I then tracked down this site and thought you might enjoy his last e-mail to me, typical of his humour and nature.
We were discussing the adoption of a young Malawian boy by Madonna:
"Well on the famous Malawian only second to me I guess! The issue really spinned the media world over 4 almost 2 wks. To us as a pple its a shame coz wat it has shown is that we have been taught to love one another by Material Girl, mind you the are quite a bunch of Malawians with money but I guess the were greeady. For me really I dont care if it was David Beckam or Lomu but when you bring somebody into your home and promise to tend for them then I have no more words to say.
Its my hope that this could have been a Malawian ( Pink Yellow Black or white ) to me it could hv been better. I always hop that I will hv kids of my own but now I think I would add one more (adopt)."
